Erik Lundy is a very funny guy and one of the people in my closest circle of creative friends with whom I chat about anything and everything.
I’ve never met Erik in real life, even though he lives in the same town in Missouri where my father lived. Still, that hasn’t stopped us from talking about the craft of writing and art since the mid 90s.
During some recent e-mail volleys, we chatted about how much more productive we became once we stopped worrying about the perfect creative environment and just produced.
Erik mentioned a Sound of Young America/MaxFunCon podcast he listened to with Merlin Mann discussing this very thing. (If you’re not familiar with Merlin Mann, check out the 43 Folders website. *)
If you need to get off your ass and start creating, listen to the 26-minute interview with Merlin Mann for four great tips about scrapping all excuses and just producing!
(You now have no excuse not to have a pile of work by this time next year.)

What Missouri town?
Christopher Gronlund says
Paul: Independence. I used to also visit friends in Humansville, and my in-laws are near Cape Girardeau.
Paul says
I’m in OP, KS, but my little cabin is down by Osceola.
Christopher Gronlund says
Paul,
Small world! I spent many a summer (and all of 6th grade) in Olathe, and had relatives in Ottawa, KS.
