Years ago when I was doing a comic book with my wife, we had a brilliant idea: “Sign all orders!”
Every book that sold through a distributor was signed before shipping. Looking back, we were lucky we only had to sign what probably totaled a little over 500 comic books.
At the time, we thought the signing would never end. There’s no real point to this entry other than to share the videos below as a warning. Signing books is a blast…but it can also be rather maddening. You’ve been warned!
Sigler’s Piles
Below — only 1/4 of the way through signing his latest release — Scott Sigler is starting to get a little batty around the edges. Don’t believe me? He does a Silence of the Lambs thing, and you can hear the “Oh my god, so many books! What have I done?!” behind that laugh at 2:02 into the video…
The Madness In His Stars
John Green was even more crazy when he agreed to sign all copies of the first printing of his book, The Fault in Our Stars. It started out in a noble way…
Then it started affecting him…
Psychosis Settles In…
Finally, he finishes (See the first 40 seconds)…
The Moral?
The moral to these stories? Signing piles of books is much easier than it sounds.
But still — what a problem to have…
