It’s pretty easy to go online and find articles saying that if you get up early, you’re better off than those who stay up late. (I started writing this at 4:18 a.m. on a Saturday morning.)
It’s also pretty easy to go online and find articles saying that if you stay up late, your brain hums with supernatural intelligence.
Here’s the thing: if you display your worth against others [at least in part] based on what an article says, there’s something sad about that.
I can show you studies and and old letters saying some of the best writers ever woke up early. But then…you could easily come back showing me studies and letters saying the best writers stayed up late.
Right now, as I begin the day, somebody who wrote some great stuff last night is getting ready to sleep.
The time you work doesn’t matter — what matters is what you do with the hours you keep…
Finished at 4:39 a.m.

You’re inspirational without even trying to be. Nice thoughts. Thanks.
